I have this lady I sponsored to an initial rep agreement who is on the fence about spending the 00 to get initial products. Her excuse is that she is 79 and really does not know how to sell the products once she has bought them, but I have told her repeatedly that she needs to get them FIRST before understanding the value of the opportunity.
I get a big commission check if she buys this stuff (as does my immediate upline) so how to I coerce her to buy? Once she buys, I really don't care if she sells it or not…but I need her to sell it to move up in rank. Help!

1-How about its just like any other business…such as buying a franchise – except when you ask to see their income from mlm (or even their upline who supposedly are successful) its suddenly personal income and none of your business. As if you would ever buy a franchise without looking at the working numbers of the same franchise in other locations.
2-How about "its a ground floor opportunity" or "the time will never be the same to get involved" yet on the other hand the entire compensation plan is for people to be continually signing up forever, with it being geometric so 2, 3, 5 years from now, there will need to be exponentially more people needed to be coming in to continue the same oppotunity…but somehow the opportunity is better now than it will be in the future!
3-How about MLM has a system that cuts out the middle man and advertising costs, yet now several layers of people get paid and MLM products are always more expensive than market.
Tons more. Let's hear 'em…
haha…i don't know if its "hypocritical" per se…but this first answer sure is a testament to the mind set of the MLMer. Every second they get, they are always pitching their MLM bullsh*t. LOL. I post a question about hypocrites in MLM and the first post in someone pitching me their MLM. Man, no wonder MLM has such a bad rep…let it go! Priceless.
Mexico4me: Thanks for your amusing response. Why would I have interested in a business that is set up to fail. Anyone with common sense knows that a geometrically growing network, even 2×2, eventually gets so large its unsustainable. You call that residual income…gimme a break.
Obvious I subscribe to a 45 year plan? Nice work, but your ignorance is showing. Would it kill you to even look at my profile first before making assumption. I am a real estate investor by trade and live off income from apartment buildings. You talk of residual income as though an mlm business actually provides such…but you are dependent on the hope that your downline continues to grow at unrealistic rates, where I, as a real estate investor, am merely dependent on people needing a placer to live.
Rants about MLM? Get a clue…i posted a question in regard to the amusing statements you always hear associated with MLM and you get overly defensive….pahleeeeze!

I am making money hand over fist with my MLM company and sponsoring people and selling product all over the place. However, I am still living out of my car because I have not CHOSEN to live in an apartment. People in my downline, who should be looking up to me because I represent a successful MLM upline, are talking behind my back and I know it. What is their problem?

There is no clear roadmap to network marketing success. As such there are no dos and do nots that will guarantee success if followed. It is difficult to identify methods and techniques that lead to network marketing success. Some techniques work for certain businesses and people and other techniques work for others. However, network marketing success is not an illusion. By following in the footsteps of successful network marketers and studying their methods and principles used, the ordinary person, new to network marketing can taste success as well. Let us now examine certain principles that have helped network marketers in the past to taste success.
Persistence
The key element in network marketing success is persistence. You need to "keep on keeping on." After being in the network marketing game for a while you have a downline large enough to study its statistics. Network marketers generally find in their downline that 95% of the downline is doing nothing at all. Only 5% of the downline is actively working towards sales. This makes it all important to support that 5% in their efforts.
An active and effective promotion campaign continues to bring in active members. By supporting the 5% that are actively making efforts, you can ensure that though small in the percentage game your active 5% prove large in the numbers game. It does not take rocket science to figure out that those who are actively persistent will achieve success. This fact is borne out through statistics as well. Those who are persistent and are with a network marketing company for 10 years or more reach the highest levels of its compensation package.
Patience
Patience is an all important virtue in the network marketing game. You need to be patient and at it for a year before that awesome power of geometric growth sets in. The cent a day example is illustrative here. If you were to save a cent on the first day, two on the second, four on the third and so double savings every day, how much would you have with you at the end of 30 days – a bunch of cents? How wrong. You would have $5,368,708 with you at the end of 30 days. That is the power of geometric growth.
Sadly most network marketers fail. This is because they do not exhibit the persistence and the patience to succeed in the network marketing game. They do not constantly promote their business as they really should. To become successful in network marketing, focus on patience and persistence and also on promotion.
Self Improvement and Development
In network marketing self improvement and development are crucial. Successful network marketers always improve upon themselves and develop themselves. In the intrinsic nature of leaders is the drive to offer value to other people. This drive reflects itself in successful network marketers. They create more value in themselves and are thus able to offer value to their prospects. Network marketers who succeed are always networking. Some of them keep lists of every single person they have met. Heavy hitters lists, direct mailing lists, they have all sorts of lists. This way if ever the time came that they needed a new company, they would be ready.
Being a Mentor to Others
Motivation is a key ingredient in network marketing success. If you are not motivated, neither will your downline. Successful network marketers always offer their services to their downline. They know that if their downline succeeds, so will they! A successful network marketer calls the downline to ask if they need support and provides it as well.
Conclusion
Network marketing is an exciting new career path that has opened up in the past few decades. Though there is no sure shot way to success in this career, there are certain principles that have given success to those who have lived by them. The most important of these is persistence. Closely related to this is another virtue that brings success in network marketing is patience. People who have persevered and held on to their dream of network marketing success have generally succeeded. Also important to success in network marketing is constant self improvement and development. You also need to develop your downline as their success is your success. With these soft skills at hand there is no reason for you not to achieve network marketing success.

Your upline promised network marketing would be easy…after all, that's how they built a huge downline, and are getting paid $10,000 a month on a regular basis, working a mere 20 hours a week. Now, your head is about ready to explode, questions spinning out of control. Questions such as:
How does my upline REALLY do it?
I've spent all this money…where are the results I was promised?
Is it me? Am I a failure?
I really love my product, why am I not selling more?
Everyone needs this product…how can I convince them? (Sound familiar?)
OK…STOP RIGHT THERE! This is your first bad assumption…NOT everyone needs or wants your product. Stop trying to "convince" everyone with a pulse that you have what they need! I know this is what you've been taught, it's commonly known as the "3 Foot Rule"…anyone within 3 feet of you is a prospect. Don't do this! By now you have probably alienated all of your friends and family…in fact they may not even answer the phone when they see you are calling.You can't even enjoy a social event anymore because you are too busy stalking out your prey…figuring out how to approach your next victim! Sound familiar? Trust me, I know, I too have walked that beaten path! Looking back, I was pathetic…I even annoyed myself!
But don't despair, you can succeed in your network marketing business. They say the definition of insanity is to keep doing what you've always done and expect different results…so STOP! If you are willing to stop wasting your time using the network marketing strategies your upline told you to use, and learn the strategies that will help you succeed in network marketing, then it's time to take action. Your network marketing business can be successful…you know you are willing to work hard, you just need to know what to do.
So, you're wondering "now what do I do"? Every business is a relationship based business, network marketing is no different.
You have to learn how to build relationships with people that are already looking for what you have. How do you do that? The following network marketing strategies will change how you operate your network marketing business.
You must first work on developing communication skills. Becoming effective communicating with the phone, the written word, and the internet is an absolute necessity if you are to build a successful network marketing business.
Find your niche, learn who your target market is. As I've already mentioned, forget that list of 100 friends and family, save that for holiday greetings. You must know who your target market is…those individuals that have expressed a need, want, or desire for exactlty what you have. Learn how to do this, and your business will explode.
After you've identified your target market, and have developed your skillset, you have to communicate with your audience. You can build your network marketing business by buying leads, and using the telephone to contact them. A second MLM strategy is to use the written word and advertise…there are dozens of options here. You can put ads in magazines, direct mail, or any other type of print media. Then there is the internet…where you can reach millions of people without ever leaving your home.
Once you master your skillset using the above mentioned MLM strategies, you will move forward in your network marketing business. You will be able to position yourself in front of people that want to hear what you have to say, and in turn,have them reaching out to you, instead of you chasing them down. Imagine people you've never even met, and probably never will, calling you for information! When you build relationships with these people, some will become prospects, others won't.
So, ditch your upline's outdated MLM strategies, and invest in yourself by enrolling in a training course that teaches current network marketing methods and strategies. MLM is indeed an exciting business, if you have the proper tools and know how to use them. So open your mind to learning new MLM strategies, and move forward today.
